Philam Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm for the Philam Group of Companies. We envision an educated nation empowered for the future.
In partnership with the Department of Education, Philam Foundation has launched Philam Paaralan which aims to empower more Filipino youth through education by building fully-furnished schools with restrooms in calamity-stricken, un-served and under-served areas around the country.
Since 2011, we have already built a total of 8 classrooms in Isabela which was devastated by Typhoon Juan in 2010. Another 6 classrooms were turned over to Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City in response to the damages caused by Typhoon Sendong in December 2011.
In 2013, we were able to build another 6 in Lemery, Batangas and Bunawan, Agusan del Sur and Mawab, Compostela Valley after it was hit by Typhoon Pablo.
In addition to the classroom facilities, Philam Paaralan was able to put up a Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facility in Lemery, Batangas to promote healthy living through basic hygiene.
Likewise, Philam Paaralan was also able to pilot the use of Steel Frame Technology in building its classrooms. The use of steel frames not only lowers the cost of building the classrooms but also improves the quality of the structure which is safe and can stand calamities like typhoon, earthquake and fire.
Equipped with these improvements, Philam Paaralan confidently started its efforts in rebuilding classrooms in areas hit by the earthquake in Bohol and Typhoon Yolanda. In partnership with the Philam Group of companies, Philam Foundation was able to raise enough funds to build 25 new classrooms in the Visayas.
